Linen Pants and "Butter" Shirt Outfit - REVEAL!

Indulgent readers, please check out my new outfit, which has just gone "live" today over at the Mood Sewing Network

You'll THRILL -- as I coordinate my linen pants and "butter" cotton shirt with two other recently completed sewing projects!

You'll SHUDDER -- as I pose in Warby Parker demo sunglass frames since returned to the company via UPS!!

You'll LAUGH -- as I attempt dance moves reminiscent of the opening number from "West Side Story"!!!

It's the post that answers the eternal question: When it comes to linen, how wrinkled is too wrinkled?!!  (If you have an opinion on that one, feel free to express it below.)

Have a great day, everybody, and THANK YOU!

  1. The shirt pattern with the covered placket is really great. Both jackets are wonderful! and the linen pants.....and it all fits perfectly.

I had a sewing teacher who called linen wrinkles "Status wrinkles." It's one of the qualities that makes linen what it is.

    Bravo!

    1. I love the wrinkled quality of linen -- provided we're not talking about the wrinkles that come from having your pants rolled up in a ball for a month (ask me how I know). ;)

  2. Definitely worth a detour - what a fab ensemble Peter. You must be psychic as well, the West Side Story attempted dance moves DID make me laugh, as predicted!! x

  4. Wonderful. Love the grey collar stand; nice touch! And the flowered blazer is pretty classy.

On the linen issue, I can stand horizontal creases but don't like the wrinkles that say "I was wadded up in a pile and worn again the next day." Of course, you're doing fine in that regard!

Love the blog; it makes my day a lot.

  6. You look wonderful in your new togs. I like the toning canvas shoes, belt and taffeta jacket (the devil is in the detail) and the sheet jacket looks great with the new pants and shirt too. A+ Mr Lappin

  7. Were you singing "I feel pretty" from WSS? Or was it just the voices in my head?

  9. Oh Peter, you just make me happy! I laughed out loud with (not at) your dance moves (in a good way!) Love having your positive energy and outlook on the internet.

  10. Well done! The jackets work so well with the pants and shirt. I think you've achieved your goal of making pieces that can be worn together. Linen and wrinkles...hmmm. Love linen; the wrinkles not so much. Such a quandary.

  11. Just a heads up, the Vogue patterns on Mccall.com are SUPER cheap right now until Friday, April 26, I just picked up both this shirt AND pants pattern for a little over 12 bucks with shipping. I saved enough to buy the shirting!

  12. Peter, these last two pieces just make everything coordinate so well. Bravo! I love all of the outfits these pieces make. I love linen on you, but I always feel frumpy in it. Maybe I need to just wear linen more until I am accustomed to its normal wrinkles. You look fabulous! Oh, and I loved the dance moves!

  13. Love all of it, you look great! You amaze me in your sewing skills :)
The linen pants look so comfy and all the color choices are so nice.
    Great job.

Did you order one of the Warby Parker glasses? I might get some soon, but I might go to their brick and mortar show case in San Francisco, to make sure and get them fitted.

    1. I ended up not going with the Warby Parkers. They all seemed slightly too big for my features. I may try another online company. Stay tuned!

  16. Nice sewing with a plan Peter. Now you can make gray linen pants and and white shirt? That jacket has a lot of potential for adding pieces.
Really nicely made pants and shirt; very professional looking.

  17. Lovely outfit! Re those status wrinkles: I made a pink linen shirt that I wore till it rotted away at the armpits ( 5 years pretty constant wear I think). Oddly, the more I washed and ironed it, the less it seemed to wrinkle. hoping that's true of the blue linen one that I made to replace it!

  18. I hate linen! I love it in concept and even on other people, but for my own clothing, it makes me crazy. The wrinkles! I know it's supposed to, but it drives me crazy! Anyways, your outfits look fantastic! Very sharp! I hate to drop the hipster bomb, because it has a bad rap - but I do love the eclectic look of your daisy and sheet jackets. :)
